Planning the development of the distribution network is the process of determining the optimal upgrade of the distribution network within a certain planning period with the aim of achieving the required security and quality of supply with minimal investment costs. The development planning process itself consists of considering alternative - technically feasible possibilities of achieving the stated goals, whereby different alternative variants can be considered individually or together in an automated procedure. The automatic process of planning the development of the distribution network usually includes the application of optimization methods that achieve the fulfillment of technical goals in the most economically advantageous way with a relatively short computing time. As part of this work, an optimization model is described for automatic planning of the development of distribution networks and the determination of the optimal power supply solution for existing and new network users, taking into account the costs of network development, possible power supply solutions or network upgrades, and the criteria of power supply quality and power supply security that must be ensured in the plant . On the network test example, the possibilities and results of the proposed method for the optimal selection of network reinforcement and upgrading are presented
